EVERYDAY PRESCHOOL
The good stuff happens in the everyday.
The day might begin with a story and become a fort, a painting, a batch of baking or an idea carried outside to the sandpit. In our preschool community of up to 30 children, there is room for busy play and big conversations, as well as quieter moments to read, create or look closely at something small.
TIME TO EXPLORE
Making room for children’s ideas.
Children’s curiosity does not always fit neatly into one activity or one morning. We give them time to revisit their ideas, change them, share them and see where they lead.
Grow and gather
Planting, harvesting and caring for the garden bring small observations to life.
Make by hand
Mixing, measuring, painting, clay and loose parts offer many ways to think and create.
Tell a new story
Books, music, movement and imaginative play give children language for the worlds they are making.
Explore the natural world
Mud, sand, water and changing seasons bring texture, questions and plenty to discover.
LIFE WITH OTHERS
Friendships take shape in the small moments.
At preschool, children are learning how to join a game, hold onto an idea, listen to someone else’s and work through a tricky moment. Those things happen while building together, making room in the sandpit or laughing over a made-up story.
Teachers are nearby to notice, listen, join in and offer just enough support for children to take the next step with confidence.
It is not about getting every interaction right. It is about having a caring place to practise.
MUDDY HANDS & OPEN SKIES
The outdoors brings its own kind of learning.
The garden, sandpit and natural spaces invite children to move, test ideas, make a mess, notice what has changed and begin again. Children also head out on planned nature walks to nearby Monte Cecilia Park, giving them a chance to notice the seasons, move through their local neighbourhood and explore beyond the centre together..
GETTING READY FOR SCHOOL
School readiness is about more than a desk.
We support children to recognise their names, explore letters, use tools, draw, make marks and share their ideas. But being ready for school also grows through the everyday things children learn to do for themselves.
It happens when a child can make a choice, ask for help, join a group, keep trying and feel proud of what they can do on their own.
Sharing ideas
Exploring letters, drawing and mark-making builds hand control, confidence and a genuine interest in literacy.
Learning with others
Joining a group, listening, contributing and trying again helps children grow focus, participation and connection.
Doing more for themselves
Recognising their name, caring for belongings, making choices and asking for help builds independence and problem-solving.
GETTING TO KNOW SCHOOL
Getting to know school before the first day.
From around four and a half, children have opportunities to visit local schools we know well, including Three Kings Primary and Royal Oak Primary. These visits help children become familiar with the environment, ask questions and picture themselves there — making the move to school feel exciting, not unknown.
